We’re already mapping out our winter projects to ensure that everyone’s deadlines are met for 2025.
Last year’s wet winter really did take its toll. Deadlines were pushed back because sodden sites made it impossible to carry out groundworks.
We REALLY dislike missing deadlines.
One of my favourite sayings is, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you always get what you’ve always got.” – Henry Ford. So, to avoid the same thing happening this year, we’re encouraging you to get your winter work booked now and started sooner. That way, your deadlines will be met, and your play areas will be ready for your customers, visitors, or students at the perfect time!
We only have 9 weeks until my favourite time of the year – Christmas!
Once we return from the Christmas break, there are just 6 weeks until February half-term, and then 6 more until the Easter holidays begin. Time flies! If you’re looking to update, renew, refurbish, or maintain your play area, now is the time to talk to us. Let’s get it done and ticked off the list before the New Year rush when our lead times grow longer.
In the meantime…
What You Can Do for Your Play Area: A Quick Checklist
- Inspect the entire framework – Look for splinters, corrosion, wear, & missing fixings/parts.
- Check bolt caps & bungs – Especially in recessed timbers where water can accumulate and reduce the equipment’s lifespan.
- Clean equipment near trees and bushes – Treat timber play equipment with an algaecide to prevent fungus and prolong its life.
- Check all fixings – Look for corrosion, wear (move shackles and chain links to check for wear), and ensure everything is tight.
- Replace damaged or worn parts – Address issues now before they worsen.
- Check your Safety Surface –
- Rubber Wetpour – Is it in good condition & undamaged? Does it need a clean?
- Grass Matting – Is the turf under the matting in good condition? Are any mats damaged?
- Loose Fill Surface – Woodchip/Sand etc – Does the surface need topping up? Forking over?
Have you had your annual RPii inspection carried out? Is there anything on there that needs attention?
