Coastline Adventure at Hendra Holiday Park

Hendra’s Director, Jon Hyatt, needed a revamp that was forward-thinking. The challenge was twofold: the new design had to align with the park’s future investment strategy, and it had to integrate seamlessly with existing equipment that was still in good condition. Furthermore, the project required close coordination with Hendra’s own expert groundworks team to reconfigure the entire site layout.
The Story Behind the Project
Aligning with a Grand Vision
Hendra Holiday Park is a premier destination in Cornwall that has undergone significant, high-end upgrades in recent years. While their existing play area was well-loved and meticulously cared for, much of the equipment was aging and no longer reflected the modern, high-quality standard of the rest of the park.
Hendra’s Director, Jon Hyatt, needed a revamp that was forward-thinking. A Hybrid Approach to Design
We began by developing a range of themes and budget thresholds. Through a series of collaborative discussions with the Hendra team, we landed on a Coastline Theme.
Our strategy focused on three pillars:
1. Sustainability: We took existing equipment back to our workshop to be professionally cleaned and refurbished, repurposing it for younger age groups.
2. Quality Control: All new equipment was fully constructed in our workshops to ensure a superior finish before being flat-packed for a rapid on-site installation.
3. Collaboration: We worked hand-in-hand with Hendra’s groundworks team, sharing resources and expertise to meet a very tight deadline.
The Junior Galleon & Infant Coastline
The resulting play area is a massive, multi-zone destination that caters to scores of children simultaneously.
The Junior Pirate Galleon:
This massive bespoke ship is the centerpiece of the park. It features three decks, two ship’s wheels, a crawl tube, two slides, a climbing net, a pull-up ramp, a sand crane, a V-net bridge, and a climbing wall. It is designed to be a high-capacity play engine for older children.
The Infant & Toddler Zone:
• Mini Lifeguard Hut: A unique take on a playhouse, featuring a shop hatch and a mini beach café.
• Movement Play: We installed an octopus-themed springing see-saw and new swings, including cradle seats for the youngest recruits.
• The Refurbished Trail: The original play ship and tower system were refurbished and reinstalled, with bridges leading to the top of the bank and the overlooking picnic area.

A Positive Impact for Years to Come
The transformation has provided more space and significantly higher play value. By refurbishing older items and adding high-impact new structures, we delivered a bespoke product that met Hendra’s requirements from the very first day.
The feedback from guests and staff has been fantastic. We are just so pleased with the whole project and the positive impact it will have on guests this season and many more to come! We have enjoyed working with yourselves and really appreciate the attention to detail in both the design considerations and construction phase, especially in delivering a bespoke product to meet our requirements from the outset.
