Haynes Motorland at Haynes Motor Museum
Contact UsHaynes Motor Museum in Somerset is a world-class destination that recently underwent a massive £4 million redevelopment. As part of this extensive improvement programme, the museum required a dedicated outdoor play zone, now known as Haynes Motorland.
The brief was clear: create a motor-themed environment that would engage children of all ages and abilities. Furthermore, the museum wanted to be resourceful by making use of some existing play equipment. Our task was to reconfigure and re-theme these older pieces so they blended seamlessly with the new, bespoke installations.
The Story Behind the Project
A High-Profile Revamp

Enthusiasm Grounded in Experience
When working with prestigious institutions and charitable funds, transparency and passion are key. We worked closely with the museum trustees to ensure the design not only met their aesthetic goals but also provided a high return on investment in terms of visitor satisfaction and durability.
Our design team focused on motor-centric details, ensuring that every element of the new build and the refurbished pieces contributed to the overall feeling of a miniature motor circuit.
Manufacturing for Quality
The lads in our workshop took great pride in manufacturing and installing this play area. By building the equipment ourselves, we were able to ensure that the motor theme was baked into the craftsmanship, from the structural lines to the final finishes.
Key Features of Haynes Motorland:
• Bespoke Motor Theming: Every new unit was designed to excite young racing enthusiasts and reflect the museum's world-class collection.
• Integrated Refurbishment: Existing equipment was stripped back, reconfigured, and repainted to match the new colour schemes and themes, giving the museum a new feel for a fraction of the cost of a full replacement.
• Inclusive Play: The layout was designed to cater to a wide range of abilities, ensuring that every child visiting the museum can participate in the fun.
