Fire Rescue Adventure at Highlands End Holiday Park

Highlands End Holiday Park is a stunning destination perched high above the Jurassic Coast, welcoming families from across the UK to explore the beauty of Dorset. When the park decided to upgrade its existing play facilities, they called in the Outdoor Play People.

The Fire Service theme is a signature element throughout Highlands End, appearing in various areas of the park. It was essential that the new play area mirrored this identity, providing a seamless and immersive experience for visiting children.

We knew we had to deliver a design that was scorchingly good. Our goal was to create a space that combined physical challenges with deep role play opportunities. All we wanted to extinguish in this play area was the fire ball of mental and physical energy that children bring on their holidays!

By focusing on the Fire Rescue concept, we created a layout that encourages both independent bravery and team-based rescue missions.

The installation was a complete transformation, resulting in a super-smart kit that stands out against the spectacular Dorset coastline.

• The Centrepiece Fire Engine: This unit is packed with physical challenges, including overhead bars, a climbing wall, and an inclined net to test the strength of budding recruits.

• Fire Rescue HQ: No fire station is complete without the must-have fireman’s pole and a high-speed rescue tube slide for quick departures.

• Fire Rescue Platform: A dedicated space for fire training where children can use their imaginations to rescue friends and toys, fostering quick thinking and social play.

• Upgraded Swing Sets: We also integrated new swings into the area to enhance the existing play offering and ensure there is a classic activity for every age group.

The result is a vibrant, themed destination that fits perfectly within the Highlands End brand. Whether children are training to be the next generation of firefighters or simply letting off steam after a day at the beach, this area provides a high-quality, safe environment for family fun.

Our team loved working on this project. We were already fans of the local scenery (famed for being the setting of Broadchurch), and now we have found a true piece of paradise to visit for a holiday too!
